Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Impersonation Scam

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office wants the public to be aware of a scam that is currently happening. 

The scammers are currently calling and acting as employees of the Sheriff’s Office. They are using the office landline number 563.927.3135 and telling people that they missed jury duty and they now need to pay a fine and/or have a warrant and need to pay bail. 

The scammers initially tell you to go to the Sheriff’s Office, but then advise you that you can just pay over the phone. 

Do not give money to anyone. This is a common “spoofing” scam to where actual business or office numbers are used to make it seem that the call is coming from a credible source, but it’s not.
