Severe Weather Threat Remains Low for Today

Severe weather remains a threat for today, but it’s pretty low.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of eastern Iowa, including the KMCH listening area, under a Marginal Level 1 out of 5 risk, for severe weather. Areas southeast of Maquoketa and Iowa City are under a Slight Level 2 out of 5 risk.
The National Weather Service says storms may redevelop this afternoon and evening, but the coverage and strength of the storms will depend on several factors. The threat with any severe storms would be damaging winds and large hail, though isolated tornadoes are also possible.
Keep it tuned to KMCH – we’ll let you know of any watches and warnings and break in with live coverage as needed.
Drier weather is expected for the weekend, with sunshine and highs around 80.
