Back the Blue Donates $17,000 to Delaware County Sheriff’s Office

Back the Blue has raised a record amount of money this year.

The event held by Delaware County Pay It Forward earlier this month brought in $17,000.

Now in its 4th year, Back the Blue is Manchester’s National Night Out, with a focus on bringing local law enforcement and the community together. This year’s event featured kids’ activities, an auction, food trucks and more at the Delaware County Fairgrounds – with Manchester police officers, Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies and Iowa State Patrol troopers also taking part in activities like a dunk tank and Pie in the Face contest.

This year’s proceeds will benefit the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Travis Hemesath says they’ll be using the funds for equipment for officer safety and public safety.

The Manchester Police Department will benefit from next year’s funds when Back the Blue returns for its fifth year.
