New Look for Strawberry Point Water Tower

The Strawberry Point water tower has a new look.

And City Administrator Deno Andrews says it was more than just cosmetic.

The crews initially had to drain the tower of its 300-thousand gallons of water – and once the tower was empty, K&W Coatings inspected the liner and condition inside the tower and performed all the necessary repairs to the shell and liner that holds the water.

Strawberry Point’s water tower – at 132 feet tall – was entirely repainted and given a new look, with the city’s name and addition of two strawberries on the tower’s north and south sides.

Once the tower was repaired and painted, it was refilled, with the water tested twice before putting it back into service.

Andrews says the physical project took roughly a couple weeks – but he says months of planning went into ensuring the plan would have minimal impact to the Strawberry Point community.
