Road Work Continues on Highway 20 and Highway 13

Road work continues on portions of Highway 20 and Highway 13.

Crews are working on a resurfacing project on US-20 between Highway 187 and Manchester. DOT Resident Construction Engineer Hugh Holak tells KMCH they’ve removed one and a half inches of the old asphalt and replaced it – that’s finished, except for the fog seal on the paved shoulders. This project also included resurfacing the ramps from Highway 187 through Delhi. The ramps finished up a few days ago.

Crews have a couple of shoulder patches west of Manchester and will then finish the shoulders between Dyersville and Farley. That work should all be done by Labor Day.

The DOT also has a project starting after Labor Day along US-20 on the east side of Dyersville. They are adding a turning lane for Wuchter Road westbound, which means the Wuchter intersection will be closed for most of September. That project should last about three weeks.

Meanwhile, Holak says the Highway 13 project north of Manchester is going very well. It was anticipated to be a two-year project, but is on track to finish this year. The paving operations are anticipated to begin just before Labor Day and continue throughout September. He says starting that early will allow farmers to have pavement in place for grain hauling traffic. The DOT anticipates Highway 13 to re-open around Thanksgiving.
