Authorities Investigating Non-Credible Threat to Independence Jr./Sr. School

Authorities are investigating a threat to Independence Jr./Sr. High School that turned out to be not credible. 

In a letter to parents shared by Independence Police, school administration says they received information Tuesday morning about a social media post indicating a potential threat to the school. The school says they immediately followed up and engaged law enforcement in an investigation. Independence Police were on campus Tuesday morning and are working in cooperation with the Independence Community School District.

School administration says it was determined there was and is no credible threat to the building, nor to any students in the building. They say the students are safe and the building is secure.

Independence Police say the incident is under investigation. They plan to issue a press release once the investigation is complete.
