State Auditor Sand Hosts Delaware County Town Hall

State Auditor Rob Sand was in Delaware County for a town hall meeting on Tuesday morning.
Around two dozen residents gathered at Riverfront Park in Manchester to hear Auditor Sand speak and ask him questions about a variety of topics related to his role in serving Iowans as the “taxpayers’ watchdog”.
Sand says as he travels the state on his 100 Town Hall Tour, there is one topic brought up quite often.
Three weeks ago, Auditor Sand released an audit report on the City of Delhi. The State Auditor’s Office had conducted a special investigation, finding approximately $80,000 worth of questionable and improper spending under former city clerk Lori Tucker. Several residents at Delaware County’s town hall asked questions about the report. Sand says some cases are pretty clear as to whether it’s theft or a mistake – but he says this one is difficult to say.
The report is under review by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, the Delaware County Attorney’s Office, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Attorney General’s Office. And Sand notes that the audit for City of Ryan, where Tucker currently works as a city clerk, came back good.
Sand says if any Iowans suspect something suspicious or have concerns about financial irregularities in their local governments and entities, they can submit a confidential tip through the State Auditor’s website.
Again, that website is auditor.iowa.gov.
