Delaware County Wrapping Up Light Construction Season

Delaware County is wrapping up a light construction season this year.
County Engineer Rafe Koopman says they just had the replacement of one small bridge northeast of Ryan on 295th Street.
Earlier this year, the county crew made improvements to 180th Avenue from Highway 3 to C-64. With Highway 13 under reconstruction, Koopman says they anticipated increased traffic on 180th and knew they needed to do something to improve the safety and reduce the needed maintenance. Crews installed tile columns and shaped the road to improve drainage, with Pattison Sand when hauling a proprietary product of theirs called Stabilized Road Stone on the five miles of gravel road. Crews followed that up with a light coat of dust control. Koopman says he realizes the work overlapped with Highway 13 project for a couple weeks and apologizes for the inconvenience, but he says he’s very pleased with how the project turned out.
Construction will begin soon on Delaware County’s new Dundee shop on 145th Avenue. The completion date is June 30th of next year.
And next year, Delaware County will be constructing a concrete overlay on Old Highway 20 from the Manchester city limits to the Buchanan County line. Buchanan County will also work on Old 20 from the county line to Highway 187. Delaware County is also planning to do a bridge deck rehab next year on 130th Avenue just outside Dundee.
