Field of Dreams Sold to Local Non-Profit Organization

The Field of Dreams Movie Site has a new owner.

Local and regional project leaders for the Field of Dreams have announced that, as of Wednesday, September 4th, Dyersville Events, Inc. is now the proud owner and operator of the entire Field of Dreams Movie Site in Dyersville.

Dyersville Events, Inc. says this evolution ensures that the team’s vision for preservation and continued planning and development of the 290-acre site is in the hands of Iowans in perpetuity under the stewardship of a Dyersville based nonprofit organization.

“Our team is inspired by the Field of Dreams story,” says Nate Runde, President of the Dyersville Events, Inc. Board. “The film helped to bring alive what we know and love about Iowa and the Midwest. Strong values, a deep connection to the land, a love of America’s quintessential sport – baseball – and the power of community. This new ownership agreement will lay the foundation for an inspirational vision for the next exciting chapter in the Field of Dreams story.”

Runde says the nonprofit, with dynamic public and private partners, is in planning stages to intentionally enhance and preserve the Field of Dreams site to attract visitors from near and far as a world class destination, while retaining its homegrown character and connection to Iowans.

The Field of Dreams site is an iconic Iowa treasure that has attracted over 4 million visitors over the last 35 years. Runde says thanks to the stewardship and leadership of community members who have “kept the dream alive,” and funding from a Destination Iowa grant, Iowans are coming together to build upon the dream and uplift Iowa’s legacy through enhancement of the site.
