North Linn School District Holding PPEL Special Election

The North Linn Community School District is holding a special election today.
Voters are being asked to extend North Linn’s voted physical plant and equipment levy for an additional ten years.
The PPEL is taxpayer-supported funds used to help fund maintenance and upgrades for school buildings. Property tax rates in the North Linn school district would remain at $1.34 per $1,000 of assessed valuation of taxable property. North Linn Superintendent Leisa Breitfelder says PPEL generates around $360,000 per year for the school district. She says the funding would be used toward maintenance of our buildings (roofs, HVAC, etc.), technology for the students (Chromebooks and iPads) and contracted services for IT needs – and could be used toward the purchase of school vehicles.
Delaware County Auditor Carla Becker says the only precinct open in Delaware County for this special election is the Ryan City Office for all those residents of the Adams Hazel Green Precinct who live within the North Linn Community School District.
All voters of the North Linn School District within Buchanan County will vote at the American Legion Hall in Quasqueton.
Voters in Linn County can find out their polling place online at linncountyiowa.gov or by calling the Linn County Elections Office.
Polls are open until 8 pm.
