Fire Damages Jones County Bar and Restaurant

A fire damaged a Jones County bar and restaurant on Tuesday morning.
The Jones County Sheriff’s Office says shortly before 6 am, emergency personnel were called to Jones County Local, which is located about two miles southwest of Anamosa at 22962 County Road E-34. The Jones County Joint Communication Center received a 911 call of a structure fire from a passerby, who reported smoke coming from the business.
Several agencies joined the Sheriff’s Office in responding to the fire, including Anamosa Ambulance and Police and fire departments from Anamosa, Martelle and Springville.
When firefighters arrived, they were met with heavy smoke and some fire inside the building, which they quickly suppressed. The business was not open at the time the fire broke out. No employees were present and no injuries were reported. The inside of the building sustained heavy heat, smoke and fire damage.
The Sheriff’s Office has requested assistance from the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Division to help determine the cause of the fire and where it started.
