‘Gardening for Good’ Seeking Volunteers to Harvest Squash Near Masonville

Volunteers are needed to help harvest squash near Masonville for a good cause this Saturday.

The Lindsay family, along with Tracy Blackmer of “Gardening for Good”, are seeking volunteers to help harvest two acres of squash.

Iowa Gardening for Good is a 501(c)(3) created by the Blackmer family that focuses on involving people in growing things of value for a good cause.

This is an opportunity to help harvest locally grown produce and help fight hunger right here in NE Iowa. As in years past, the squash has been grown for donation to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in Waterloo.

Volunteers are asked to be at the plot by 9 am. The squash field is located behind the farmstead at 2163 Buchanan-Delaware Avenue, near Masonville, a quarter mile north of 220th Street (Old Highway 20). Buckets, tools, sunscreen, water and snacks will be provided. All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary.
