Anamosa Making Plans for Pumpkinfest

Anamosa is gearing up for Pumpkinfest next weekend.
The 36th Annual Pumpkinfest & Ryan Norlin Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off will be held next Saturday, October 5th, with this year’s theme “Save the Pumpkins.” The theme was chosen to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This year’s Grand Marshals will be Jones Regional Medical Center employees Debbie Hardersen and Christine Kramer, representing all staff who have battled breast cancer. Leading the parade are volunteers for Jones County Nurses Honor Guard and following in support on the JRMC float will be team members from all areas of the hospital.
The public is invited to enjoy the fun of a true Main Street Festival that includes pumpkin carving displays, a 5k run, kids’ games, food, arts and craft vendors, car show, a parade and most amazing of all, GIANT pumpkins, watermelons, and other gourds.
The GIANT gourds begin arriving early in the morning and will be on display at the Lawrence Community Center until 4 pm, with awards at noon.
Greg Norlin says they’re excited to learn that their site and state record of 2,424 pounds has a strong possibility of being broken.
