No Injuries in Buchanan County House Fire

Firefighters responded to a house fire in Buchanan County late Monday night.

The Independence Fire Department says shortly before 11 pm, they were dispatched for mutual aid to assist Brandon and Jesup Fire Departments for a house fire in the 1000 block of 280th Street.

On the scene, crews found heavy flames coming from the garage and attic. They confirmed everyone was out of the house and worked to extinguish the fire, with crews from Brandon, Jesup, Independence, La Porte City, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office Deputies & Dispatch & Jesup Ambulance Service working together through fire operations and overhaul. 

Crews were on scene for approximately three hours. No injuries were reported.
