The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for eastern Iowa on Thursday.
Thursday will bring very high to extreme fire danger conditions, with winds gusting to around 35 miles per hour, along with very low relative humidity values during the afternoon hours. The greatest fire danger will be in areas of dry vegetation and cropland where the harvest isn’t finished yet.
Any fires that develop will likely spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
The Fire Weather Watch will be in effect Thursday morning through Thursday evening for Delaware, Buchanan, Linn, Clayton and Fayette counties.
