Week eight of the High School Football season saw 6 of our coverage area teams pick up victories Friday night. Independence, Maquoketa Valley, Anamosa, Beckman Catholic, East Buchanan and Ed-Co all with wins.
Week nine this coming Friday night features round one of the playoffs for schools Class 2A and under. Seven coverage area schools have advanced:
Anamosa hosts Waukon, Ed-Co entertains BGM of Brooklyn, Maquoketa Valley welcomes in Columbus Community, Starmont visits Lisbon, North Linn heads to Pekin, Beckman Catholic will be home to Sumner-Fredericksburg and Monticello travels up to North Fayette-Valley. With all contests starting at 7:00.
The Tri-Rivers Conference Volleyball Tournament wrapped up with Bracket Play on Saturday afternoon at Starmont. Maquoketa Valley fell to Ed-Co 2-0 and beat North Cedar 2-1. North Linn lost to Springville and Calamus-Wheatland 2-0. Ed-Co was defeated 2-0 in the semifinals by eventual champion Lisbon.
Tonight the Volleyball postseason begins with Class 1A and 2A Regional first round matches with 7:00 first serves.
In 2A – Cascade hosts Alburnett.
In 1A – East Buchanan heads to Guttenberg to face Clayton Ridge, Ed-Co has Cedar Valley Christian at home, North Linn welcomes in Central City, and Starmont entertains Clarksville.
