Dubuque County Fair Association Announces New General Manager

The Dubuque County Fair Association has announced their next general manager.

John Bries, of Asbury, has been hired for the position. Bries has an extensive business background, including president and CEO of several area businesses over the years. Most recently, he has been the Treasurer on the Executive Board for Bluff Strokes Art Center, a new local nonprofit for art education and for supporting artists.

Bries was born and raised in Dubuque and is looking forward to giving back to the community. He had been looking for an opportunity to find something that he can truly enjoy.

“I am a firm believer in creating community for families, I think with my business experience I can help the Fair Association continue to move in the right direction,” says Bries.

Bries replaces Kevin Kotz, who recently retired from the Association after almost eight years as Manager.

The Dubuque County Fair Association is a non-profit organization established in 1953, to plan and operate the Annual Dubuque County Fair. The Association has grown immensely in 71 years and the DCFA now offers visitors 96 acres, rental facilities, a 3/8-mile dirt racetrack, an outdoor festival area, experienced event planners, and full service food and beverage amenities.
