Manchester City Council Meeting Recap

The Manchester City Council met Monday night.

The Council held a public hearing on a proposed ordinance that would amend the City’s Code of Ordinances by amending Subdivision Regulations. The amendment would allow the joining of single adjacent parcels or lots under common ownership so they can be treated as a single parcel or lot – just providing a simpler way to technically combine parcels without having to go through the subdivision platting process. The Council waived the first and second readings and approved the third and final reading.

Following up on the request of a neighborhood on the north end of the city, the Manchester City Council approved installing stop signs at the intersection of Winslow Drive and Crescent Drive to help slow down traffic – this would impact eastbound traffic along Winslow Drive at Crescent Drive, westbound traffic along Winslow at Crescent and southbound traffic along Crescent at Winslow.

And the City Council approved the first readings of two ordinances that would amend chapters of the City Code. The first proposed amendment applies to noise control, outlining specific noise limits for vehicle noise, residential noise and outdoor events. The second proposed amendment applies to parking regulations. It would restrict parking on public property for more than 24 hours for such instances as displaying a vehicle for sale, repairing a vehicle, displaying advertising and selling merchandise. The proposed amendment also says no trailer, detached from their towing vehicle, may be parked on any public street, alley or parking area covered by the City for more than 48 hours and that no unoccupied motor home, travel or camping trailer may be parked on any public street, alley or parking area covered by the City for more than 48 hours. The second and third readings still need to be approved for both of these amended ordinances before they go into effect.

The City Council were also presented with the City of Manchester’s TIF Report from Speer Financial, reviewed the City’s Parks and Recs Master Plan and were notified of an upcoming Flood Coalition Community Outreach Planning Meeting next month. We hope to have more on those stories in upcoming newscasts on KMCH.
