Red Flag Warning for Eastern Iowa on Tuesday

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for eastern Iowa today.
The National Weather Service says the combination of dry crops and grasses, low relative humidity levels, and strong gusty south winds will result in extreme fire weather conditions this afternoon. If a fire were to start, it would likely spread quickly and be difficult to extinguish.
Outdoor burning is not recommended. Farmers are advised to use caution when using machinery and outdoor equipment. Motorists are asked not to discard cigarettes.
The Red Flag Warning is in effect until 6 pm tonight. A Wind Advisory is also in effect through tonight, with winds gusting as high as 25 miles per hour out of the south today.
Burn bans also remain in effect for 57 counties in Iowa, including Delaware, Dubuque, Buchanan, Clayton and Fayette. Linn County had lifted their burn ban last Friday, but then re-issued it today. State Fire Marshal Dan Wood:
Widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected as we head into Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night.
