Delaware County Republicans’ & Democrats’ Views on Presidential Election

The last four years have led up to today’s presidential election.
Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump and Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris have been running neck and neck for weeks in a presidential race that’s been unlike any other in history.
KMCH News Director Janelle Tucker sat down with the leaders of each party in Delaware County to gather their thoughts on this year’s election.
When asked “Why vote Trump? Why vote Republican?”, Roger Helmrichs, chair of the Delaware County Republicans, says those are really two different questions.
Delaware County Democrats Co-Chair Carol Hennessy was asked “Why vote Harris? Why vote Democrat?”
Hennessy says enthusiasm is high among local Democrats heading into today’s election.
Meanwhile, Helmrichs says Republican voters seem to be coming to terms with what’s most important in this presidential election.
Regardless of which presidential candidate you choose, both Helmrichs and Hennessy say it’s important to vote and make your voice be heard.
Polls will be open today from 7 am to 8 pm.
Polling places have not changed in Delaware County – so you’ll vote where you did in the last general election. If you have any questions about where your polling place is, you can reach out to the Delaware County Auditor’s Office at 927-4701 and they’ll help you find where you need to go.
Election coverage will begin tonight on KMCH at 8 pm, with updates on the presidential race from CBS, as well as congressional and state legislative updates from Radio Iowa and updates on contested county races as well.
