The Dollar Fresh Market in Independence Friday was a proud host to a commemorative bell made in the honor of Iowa Veterans.
That’s John Ralls from the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs. The Spirit of Iowa Bell was crafted on the grounds of the Iowa State Fair in 2017. Since then, it’s been traversing the Hawkeye State, ringing the story of the men and women who served in our armed forces.
Ralls says it’s been incredible sharing the bell with Iowans, allowing them to ring in their appreciation.
Friday was the first appearance of the bell in Independence. Partnering with Hy-Vee’s, the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs with continue the bells tour for years to come. You can learn more about the bell and it’s tour on the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs Facebook page.
