Two Injured in Highway 20 Crash East of Dyersville

Two people were injured in a crash on Highway 20 east of Dyersville on Monday afternoon.
The Iowa State Patrol says a semi-tractor/tanker was westbound when it rear-ended a westbound SUV, which was traveling at a slow speed with its hazards on. The semi came to rest in the south ditch. The SUV rolled and came to rest in the north ditch.
According to the State Patrol’s report, the driver of the semi was texting while driving and cited for use of electronic communication device and failure to stop in a clear assured distance. The State Patrol says the SUV driver had left a mechanics shop that morning, where they were informed their vehicle was “not safe to be driven” due to multiple mechanical issues. The SUV driver was cited for no insurance and operation of an unsafe vehicle – she also did not hold a valid driver’s license.
The SUV driver, 31-year old Constance Beasley of Waterloo, and her passenger suffered minor injuries and were both transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The semi driver, 56-year old Jeffrey Koerner of Warsaw, Minnesota, was not hurt.
