Manchester Council Asking for More Information about Dog Park

The Manchester City Council is not moving forward with approving fencing for the new dog park – at this time.
The dog park committee has been working on raising funds and making plans for a dog park along South Brewer Street for the past year and a half. The property was chosen last year, with the next step purchasing and installing the fencing. City Manager Tim Vick:
But the Council voted 3-2 against approving the fence quote at Monday night’s council meeting, with council members Joe Dittrick, Linda Schmitt and Bryan Gray saying no at this time. Gray says the residents he has talked to are not in support of a dog park – noting there are already trails and parks in the community for dogs and dog owners to use. Dittrick and Schmitt both said they need more information about the rules and regulations the dog park will have before moving forward.
Vick says the Dog Park Committee has been working on putting together rules and regulations, which are expected to be similar to other communities’ dog parks.
Mayor Connie Behnken says the City will ask the dog park committee to come to the next council meeting to provide more information and help answer any questions.
