Two Dead in SUV/Semi Collision in Dubuque County

Two people have died following a SUV/semi collision in Dubuque County on Thanksgiving Day.

According to the report by the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 1 pm Thursday to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 151 near the intersection of Skyline Road. Additional support came from the Iowa State Patrol, Key West Fire Department and the Dubuque Fire Department.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the passenger in the SUV, who was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, died from their injuries.

The driver of the semi was transported to Mercy Hospital with what was considered to be minor injuries.

An initial investigation by the State Patrol determined the westbound SUV did not stop at the stop sign at Skyline Road and was hit by the northbound semi. The SUV came to rest in the east ditch, while the semi came to rest in the southbound lanes, blocking traffic.

Names of involved parties are being withheld pending the notification of families.
