A Dubuque County home was damaged in a fire on Monday afternoon.
The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says emergency crews responded to 15692 Hickory Road between New Vienna and Bankston for a structure fire shortly before 12:30 pm. Fire departments from New Vienna, Holy Cross, Farley, Dyersville and Epworth were all called to the scene.
Homeowners Dale and Carlene Langel were not home at the time. Damage is estimated at $180,000.
The Sheriff’s Office says the fire appears to have started near the electric box on the side of the house.
