One Injured in Motorcycle Incident in Linn County

One person was airlifted to the hospital following a motorcycle incident in Linn County on Saturday night.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says around 8:30 pm, their deputies, along with Linn County Sheriff Rescue 57, Troy Mills Fire Department, Center Point Ambulance Service and Life-Guard Air Ambulance Service responded to the Center Point Ambulance Garage at 521 Franklin St. in Center Point for an unconscious male with a head injury.
18-year old Colton Dake of Center Point had fallen off of a motorcycle at the intersection of Grant St. and Mill St. in Walker. Colton became unconscious and was transported by an off-duty firefighter with Troy Mills Fire Department to the Center Point Ambulance Garage. From there, Dake was airlifted by Life-Guard Air Ambulance Service to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with what authorities believed to be serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Investigation into the accident and witness accounts indicate Dake was operating a motorcycle at the intersection in Walker when he fell over due to inexperience. Dake was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
