Fire Destroys Home in Delaware

A fire destroyed a home in Delaware on Monday morning.
According to the Delaware Volunteer Fire Department, their firefighters were called to 101 West Washington Street shortly after 2 am for a house fire, with mutual aid from the Delhi and Earlville fire departments.
Delaware Fire Chief Duane Elgin says flames were already engulfing the home’s attic and coming out of the home’s windows when firefighters arrived on the scene. Two people were inside the home when the fire started, with both of them making it out safely.
Chief Elgin says the fire is believed to have started on the north side of the home, though it’s not known what caused the fire.
Firefighters were on the scene until shortly after 8 am.
The home is a total loss.
