Operation Santa Claus Presents Gifts to Delaware County Families

Christmas came for some families in Delaware County on Saturday.
Operation Santa Claus handed out gifts of clothing and toys to families who need a little extra help this holiday season. The organization has been around since the 1980’s and committee member Kathy Swift says this year, the numbers were up.
Committee member Tammy Eibey says if there is an unexpected situation that pops up for an area family between now and Christmas, they do have some items on hand to help them.
Operation Santa Claus has been working year round to prepare for their holiday gift giving, with the last couple months very busy. Swift says they couldn’t do it without all of their “elf” volunteers.
And Operation Santa Claus appreciates everyone who donated – from the commodity groups, including the Delaware County Dairy Promoters, Pork Producers and Cattlemen, to the 4-H clubs and church groups, to the quilting clubs from St. Mary’s and Coggon, as well as a local resident who works year-round creating doll clothes. Eibey says Delaware County Economic Development and local businesses all played a big role as well.
