Cascade Teen Injured in Linn County Collision

A Cascade teen was injured in a collision in Linn County on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency personnel were called to Highway 13 and Mount Vernon Road shortly after 1:30 pm for a two-vehicle accident with possible injuries.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says upon arriving, emergency personnel discovered a pickup and SUV in Highway 13’s southbound lanes, blocking traffic. Bystanders had removed both of the drivers due to the pickup smoking.

An investigation into the accident, along with witness statements, concluded that the pickup – a red Chevrolet Silverado – was driving erratically at a high rate of speed on Highway 13 from Highway 30. The pickup ran the red light at Mount Vernon Road and continued northbound until it collided with a SUV, rear-ending it. Both vehicles continued through the median and came to rest on the opposite side, blocking southbound traffic.

The Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the SUV, 17-year old Donita Krogman of Cascade, was transported to Mercy Hospital with minor injuries.

The pickup driver, 34-year old Jordan Williams of Marion, was arrested for OWI (First Offense), Following Too Closely, Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device and Failure to Maintain Control.
