Manchester Police Department Welcomes New Officer

The Manchester Police Department has welcomed a new officer to its roster – and he comes from South Carolina.

Officer Jesse Bartkowski chose Manchester, Iowa to start his career in law enforcement.

He says he became a police officer because he wanted to be like his dad.

And Bartkowski says it was family that led them to Manchester.

His first impression of Manchester? It’s a bit colder here.

Bartkowski’s first day on the job was last Monday. And while he says his first week as a new officer has been a little stressful with a lot to learn, it’s been a good start.

And he appreciates the warm welcome from the Manchester community.

Officer Bartkowski was sworn in last week by Mayor Connie Behnken.
