Rural Manchester Contractor on Trial Found Dead

A rural Manchester contractor who was on trial has died.

57-year old Randy Less and his company, RCZ Enterprises, were charged with Wire Fraud, Bank Fraud, Identity Theft, and False Statements to a Financial Institution. His trial began Tuesday, December 17th.

According to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, Less did not appear for trial on Thursday morning, December 19th. He was found dead at his home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Less had been hired to build a custom home for a Bremer County family as he received an initial payment of $150,000 in July of 2021. The couple later became concerned that subcontractors were not being paid and the bank required Less to submit mechanics lien waivers before allowing further withdrawals on the loan. Less then submitted altered waivers and resumed drawing money. Last year, Less was also charged with a ticket switching scheme on home improvement stores in Dubuque and Cedar Rapids while on pre-trial release.
