Randy’s Neighborhood Market Closes Today in Dyersville

The Dyersville community is losing one of their grocery stores.
Randy’s Neighborhood Market announced in December that they would be ceasing operations at their location just off Highway 20 in the Stone Creek Shopping Center. In a note to customers, they said the decision was due to economic impacts and inflation that continue to change the grocery industry, as well as many other industries around the community. Store Manager Dave Nebel tells KMCH they are closing because the building’s owner wanted Randy’s to sign off on a long-term lease.
The locally-owned grocery store, which was formerly Payless Foods, has been a staple in the Dyersville community for decades.
Randy’s Neighborhood Market has been running store specials since the announcement, with items 25% to 50% off. On Monday, they announced on Facebook that everything is now 75% off – with the store officially closing for good at 5 pm today (five days earlier than originally planned). In their Facebook post, the store thanked all of their customers for their support over the years.
Nebel says the majority of their employees will now be retiring. “I personally would like to thank all the current and former employees for being part of the Randy’s Neighborhood Market family. All of your dedication towards your job made my job that much easier.”
The loss of Randy’s Neighborhood Market leaves the Dyersville community with two remaining grocery stores – Fareway and Dollar Fresh.
