Delaware County Cattlemen Celebrate

A full house gathered for steak, a drink or two, and fun as the Delaware County Cattlemen’s Annual Beef Banquet was held Saturday night. Among the night’s festivities were awards and recognitions. NFO Livestock in Manchester was recognized as the Beef Promoter of the year. Co-owner Austin Lueck says it was certainly a surprise to hear their name.

Lueck is confident the beef markets will continue to grow.

A new Beef Princess and Queen were crowned. Myka Brooks, after serving for 2 years as Princess, assumes the role as Queen. Despite knowing her destiny, Myka says it was still a joyful surprise to hear her name called.

Getting out among fellow cattle producers and the public is what makes the role fun for Myka.

Meanwhile, after an afternoon of interviews and hard work, Madalynn Arnold of New Vienna was crowned this year’s Princess.

For Madalynn, spending the next year promoting beef will be a pleasure.

Lauren Krogmann was selected to serve as Ambassador. This year’s royalty candidates also included Jayden Hillers and Addison Krogmann.

The Delaware County Cattlemen also present several scholarships each year to local students, with this year’s recipients including Cole Carroll, Abigail Krogmann, Claire Peyton and Jack Smith.

The highlight of the night was recognition of the Cattlemen of the Year, with this year’s honor going to Tony and Joellen Helmrich. Lifelong Delaware County residents, the Helmrichs have a proud 40 year history of producing beef from their farm on the southwest corner of the county.

That love of producing has been handed down to the next generation.

Cam & Tracy Schulte received the Making a Difference Award for their work for 21 years with the beef shows and Steer-n-Stein.
