Icy Weather Moving into Eastern Iowa Later Wednesday

The weather is expected to turn icy later this afternoon and tonight.
A winter storm front will move across the state, bringing the potential for freezing rain and light snow. National Weather Service meteorologist Jim Lee says two-third of Iowa’s counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory, roughly from Highway 20 south.
Lee says Iowans need to be prepared for a thin layer of ice and slick conditions later today, with the evening commute expected to be impacted.
The National Weather Service says precipitation is forecast to end from west to east late this evening into the early morning hours on Thursday, with near or below freezing temperatures lingering into the morning hours. Above freezing temperatures are forecast by late morning Thursday area-wide.
Lee says sunshine should return on Thursday, but there could be more precipitation this weekend.
