Demolition Planned for Former Delaware County Jail and Sheriff’s House
New Building Going Up to House Treasurer's and Auditor's Offices

The Manchester city block that houses the Delaware County Courthouse will start looking a little different later this year.
The County is planning to demolish the former jail, along with the former Sheriff’s Office, old Sheriff’s House and carport/garage, that sit on the south side of the courthouse property. County Supervisor Shirley Helmrichs explains:
In its place, a new building will be constructed that will house the Delaware County Treasurer’s Office and Auditor’s Office, as well as a conference room.
Supervisor Helmrichs says moving the Treasurer’s Office and Auditor’s Office to a new entry-level building will make access easier for county residents.
The new building will also provide more space for the Auditor’s Office.
Helmrichs says the Delaware County Board of Supervisors is anticipating a total cost of under six million dollars for the demolition and the new building.
The old jail, Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff’s House and carport/garage will likely come down this summer or fall.
The new Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and Jail has been operational on the west end of Manchester since 2021.
