Delaware County Man Honored with IPPA’s State Hog Wild Award

A Delaware County pork producer has been honored with one of the Iowa Pork Producers Association’s top awards.

Jordan LeClere was named the state Hog Wild award winner during the Iowa Pork Congress in Des Moines – he was one of five nominees from across the state. The Hog Wild Award recognizes and honors men who have gone above and beyond in helping promote and educate about the pork industry. LeClere has served on the Delaware County Pork Board for eight years and has been instrumental in fair activities and promotional events.

Two local women were also honored as nominees for the Iowa Pork Producers’ state Belle Ringer award. The award recognizes and honors women in the pork industry who have gone above and beyond in helping promote and educate about pork. The local nominees included Lindsay Manternach, who has served on the Delaware County Pork Board for six years. Manternach has held several officer positions, including Secretary and Vice President, and has coordinated county shows and educational programs. Tracy Zitelman has served on the Buchanan County Fair Board for three years, including as Secretary. Zitelman has helped with grilling events and planning county activities to promote pork.

The Iowa Pork Producers’ Membership and Leadership Committee also recognizes and rewards counties who are keeping an active presence in their communities through the County Involvement Awards program. Counties can earn points by actively promoting the pork industry and pork products and creating their own unique promotional events that help their communities. Both Delaware and Buchanan counties were among the top five counties recognized, with each county’s Pork Board receiving a cash award.
