Earlville Man Returns to Court in Post Conviction Relief Hearing

Todd Mullis is back in court this week.

The Earlville man was convicted of First Degree Murder by a Dubuque County jury in the death of his wife, Amy, in September 2019. She was fatally stabbed with a corn rake in her back on their farm in November 2018. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Mullis is asking for a new trial. His Post Conviction Relief hearing started Monday morning in Delaware County District Court in Manchester.

Mullis’ new attorneys say he is insistent that Amy’s death was an accident. His attorneys are asking that his conviction and sentence be vacated and that he be given a new trial.

The hearing is expected to last several days and is open to the public.
