The Delaware County Dairy Banquet is Saturday night in Manchester, with dairy producers and the community gathering to celebrate the local dairy industry.
Nicole Engelken with the Delaware County Dairy Promoters says they’ll be handing out their annual dairy awards and crowning new Delaware County dairy royalty, with Iowa Dairy Princess Haley Ronnebaum of Earlville speaking to the crowd as well.
This year’s candidates are Kelsey Hoeger and McKayla Weber for Delaware County Dairy Princess, Kessa Hoeger for Little Miss Squirt, and Zander Tekippe and Mason Weber for Little Mr. Herdsman.
The Dairy Banquet will also feature a live and silent auction, with proceeds benefiting the Maquoketa Valley FFA Dairy Cattle Evaluation and Management Team’s trip to the Royal Highland Show in Scotland and Ireland.
The Dairy Promoters will be serving steak sandwiches grilled by the Delaware County Cattlemen, with garlic mashed potatoes, corn and apple crisp from Salow’s Sweet & Savory. Engelken says you can get your meal to go through the drive-thru or you can come inside and eat at the Delaware County Fairgrounds Pavilion.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids 5-12, with ages four and under free. Tickets are available only in advance – you can get them at Community Savings Bank in Manchester and Earlville, Fidelity Bank in Dyersville or from any board member of the Delaware County Dairy Promoters.
