Elevated Fire Risk Across Eastern Iowa on Friday

The change in weather this week could lead to another risk of fires across eastern Iowa.

The National Weather Service says Friday will bring an elevated fire risk.

Gusty west winds up to 40 miles per hour, along with warm temperatures, dry conditions and abundantly dry grasses/brush/fields will lead to an increased risk of fires spreading.

The National Weather Service says any burning should be postponed. Forecasters also recommend using extra caution with heavy equipment and to avoid carelessly discarding cigarettes.

Seasonal temperatures in the 30s and 40s will be here this weekend, but milder temperatures are expected next week, with our next chance for rain Monday night into Tuesday.
