Shop Fire at Independence Jr. Sr. High School

Firefighters were called to Independence Jr. Sr. High School on Monday afternoon for a fire in the shop area.

According to the Independence Fire Department, their crews were dispatched to the school for an automatic fire alarm. While crews were en route, Buchanan County Dispatch updated the call reporting an active fire in the shop area.

On scene, crews found a small fire in a compressor room. The Fire Department says administration, staff, and students all responded appropriately and evacuated the school for a short time. The fire was quickly brought under control and fire crews checked for fire extension and reset the alarm system.
