Flags Flying Half-Staff for Former Iowa Senate President

Flags are flying half-staff today for a former Iowa Senate president who passed away earlier this week.

Jack Kibbie served for more than two decades in the Iowa State Legislature. He was 95.

Kibbie’s public service began in 1960 where he served in the Iowa House of Representatives until 1964, when he was elected to the Iowa Senate. Kibbie represented his constituents as a member of the Iowa Senate from 1964 to 1968 and again from 1988 to 2012. Before his time in the legislature, Kibbie served as a tank commander in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received a Bronze Star for his service to his country.

Gov. Reynolds has ordered all flags in Iowa to be lowered to half-staff and remain at half-staff from sunrise to sunset today in honor and remembrance of Kibbie.
