First Severe Weather Outbreak of Season Possible Friday

The first severe weather outbreak of the season is possible on Friday.
The National Weather Service says there is an increasing severe weather risk late Friday afternoon into the evening. The Storm Prediction Center has placed eastern Iowa, which includes all of the KMCH listening area, under a Level 2 Slight Risk, while the Quad Cities and points south are under a Level 3 Enhanced Risk. The main threats are damaging winds and a few tornadoes associated with a fast moving line of storms.
Prior to the storms, strong winds and warm temperatures will lead to elevated fire danger Friday afternoon.
As we kick off the severe weather season, the National Weather Service encourages everyone to remind family members of your communication plan, have a way of receiving weather alerts and know how to evacuate and get to safety from wherever you are.
