Dyersville Hosting Annual St. Patrick’s Celebration

Dyersville is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday.

It’s been a big annual celebration for the community for years. While there is a presence of Irish Catholic heritage in Dyersville (with the Ancient Order of Hibernians hosting some of the festivities), Chamber Director Karla Thompson says it’s just a good reason to get out after a long winter and have some fun.

Dyersville’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities will kick off Saturday morning with the Kids’ Leprechaun Leap and the adults’ Gaelic Gallop at Xavier, in which you can walk or run the streets of Dyersville.

If you’d rather jump on your bicycle than run, there’s the Shamrock Bike Ride.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians will host an Irish Catholic Mass at the Basilica at 10:30 am that everyone is welcome to attend. And that will be followed by Dyersville’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 1:30 pm, taking its usual route through the downtown area.

And after the parade, there will be plenty of opportunities to turn Irish for a day with green beer, live music and good company throughout Dyersville.

You can find more information about Saturday’s festivities on the Dyersville Chamber’s Facebook page.
