Severe Storms Down Power Lines in Delaware County

Severe thunderstorms and strong winds brought down power lines in portions of the KMCH listening area on Friday night.
Delaware County Emergency Management says several power lines were reported down in Manchester around 9 pm. Coordinator Mandy Bieber says trees and power lines were down in the Marshall Court, Sherman and Acers areas, as well as near the library. A shed was also wrapped around a power pole on South 5th Street. As of 9:45 pm, Bieber had not received damage reports from other communities in Delaware County.
Linn County Emergency Management also reported power outages in Central City, with a 10 to 12 foot tree uprooted in the community.
A line of storms moved quickly across the state late Friday afternoon into Friday night, with winds reaching near 80 miles per hour in portions of southern Iowa. The National Weather Service issued numerous severe thunderstorm warnings throughout the evening.
