Linn County’s Supervisors Seat to be Filled by Appointment

Linn County’s District 2 Board of Supervisors vacancy will be filled by appointment.
The committee of county officers voted Thursday to reaffirm its decision to fill by appointment because it did not receive a valid petition meeting the requirements as stated in the Iowa Code from electors in District 2 to trigger a special election.
The application for District 2 Linn County Supervisor is available on the Linn County website. Applications are due by March 23rd.
The applicant selected will serve until the 2026 general election, or until a special election is triggered by one of the following:
- A valid petition is received and filed
- A change in state law that requires vacancies to be filled by special election
The Linn County Auditor, Recorder and Treasurer will meet on Wednesday, March 26th at 1:30 p.m. to discuss applications received and the next steps in the process.
