Highway 3 Bridge Replacement Over Maquoketa River East of Hwy 187

If you drive on the Highway 3 bridge over the Maquoketa River, you need to be aware of an upcoming bridge replacement project that may slow down your trip.

Beginning on April 1st (weather-permitting), crews will remove and replace the Highway 3 bridge over the Maquoketa River – just a couple miles east of Highway 187. 

Highway 3 will remain open to traffic during this project. Temporary traffic signals will assist drivers as they travel through the work zone, with some width restrictions in place – a 12-foot lane-width restriction during the first phase of construction and a 10-foot-6 lane-width restriction in place for the second phase. 

The bridge replacement project is expected to wrap up in late October.
