Delaware County Pork Producers Hosting Pie Contest and Auction

The Delaware County Pork Producers are hosting their annual “Bake It With Lard” Pie Contest and Auction on Saturday night.

Shirley Helmrichs says anyone is welcome to enter a pie – but there are a few guidelines to follow.

The pies will be judged, with the top six place winners receiving a cash prize. After the winners are announced, the pies will be auctioned off – and many of those pies, especially the top winners, sell for hundreds of dollars a piece. Over sixty pies were sold during the live auction last year.

Saturday night’s pie contest and auction takes place at the Delaware County Fairgrounds Pavilion in Manchester, with new little pork royalty also crowned. A pork medallion meal will be served by the Edgewood Event Center at 6:30 pm. Cost for the meal is $17 for adults and $6 for kids 10 and under. Tickets will be available at the door.
