Over $30,000 Raised at Delaware County Pork Producers’ Pie Auction

The Delaware County Pork Producers held their annual “Bake It With Lard” pie contest and auction on Saturday night at the Delaware County Fairgrounds Pavilion in Manchester.
A total of eighty-eight pies were sold on the auction, raising more than $30,000. That money goes right back to the Delaware County Pork Producers to help them promote pork and award scholarships.
Dianne Reth of Manchester won this year’s contest, with her German Fruit pie taking first place. The Delaware County Pork Producers purchased the winning pie for $1,000 in tribute of the Dale and Eileen Keuter family and in memory of Karl Keuter, who purchased the winning pie for many years. Judy Keuter was presented with a special plaque as a thank you for 50+ years of support of the pie auction.

Second place was won by Henry Ries, with his Maple Bourbon Hog Heaven Apple pie purchased for $900 by Ken Ries. Doris McAllister’s Caramel Apple pie won third place, with Wulfekuhle Electric placing the winning bid of $950. The grand prize winner, Dianne Reth, also won fourth place with her Peach pie, purchased by SilverEdge Coop for $500. Doris McAllister’s Pecan pie won fifth place, which was sold to JBS Livestock for $500. And Layla Loeffelholz won sixth place with a Bishop Chocolate pie, bought by Judy Keuter for $400.

A total of fifty-seven pies were entered and judged in the contest.
The Delaware County Pork Producers also crowned new little royalty. Grace Krogmann was named Little Miss Pigtails, with Lane Manternach winning Little Sir Hamalot and Ivan LeClere named Alternate Little Sir Hamalot.
