Dyersville Chamber Announces Woman of the Year Nominees

The Dyersville Chamber has announced the nominees for their Woman of the Year award.

Each year, the Chamber invites the public to submit nominations of deserving women from the greater Dyersville area for the annual honor. This year’s nominees are:

Barb Maiers has dedicated 37 years to early childhood education, becoming a cornerstone of the Dyersville community. Her leadership at The Kid Project has shaped generations of children, ensured high-quality care, and supported a strong, loyal staff. From teaching to directing, Barb’s passion, work ethic, and devotion to families have made a lasting impact. Beyond the center, she actively serves her church, school boards, and community. Hear more about Barb at our annual Women’s Night.

Elizabeth Schlarmann leads with unwavering faith, service, and humility – uplifting others through her involvement in Scouting, school, church, and the community. She gives selflessly, supports quietly, and inspires by example. From mentoring Scouts and guiding them toward Eagle rank to coordinating school fundraisers, organizing uniforms, and volunteering as a Eucharistic minister, Elizabeth touches countless lives with her compassion and dedication. She steps in without hesitation, whether it’s driving a friend to a medical appointment, preparing meals for teachers, or quietly cleaning up public spaces – always putting others first.

Janie Ament is a devoted and passionate community volunteer whose service spans decades and touches countless lives. Her involvement includes delivering Chamber welcome kits to new residents, serving on the Park Board to help organize and promote events at the Pavilion, volunteering at the MercyOne gift shop, assisting with parish bingo, and previously being an active member of both the Dyersville Women’s Club and the Garden Club. Janie consistently steps up when help is needed, never turning down a request to serve. Her energy, kindness, and unwavering commitment to Dyersville have made her a familiar and trusted face in the community.

Joyce Jarding is a dedicated community leader whose passion for “Moving Farley Forward” has driven meaningful progress for decades. She is currently leading the effort to establish a permanent home for the Farley Library and Community Center – creating a year-round space for learning, connection, and community growth. Her long history of service includes roles on the Farley City Council, school boards, the Farley Industrial Development Corp., and as cofounder of the Garden Club. Joyce is known for her strong leadership, ability to inspire volunteers, and commitment to building a better future.

Jayme Lammers, owner of Cottonwood Custom Tees, has shown exceptional community commitment through her “Wave to the Brave” fundraiser, raising over $20,000 to support local families and children receiving care at Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Since October 2023, her initiative has produced over 3,000 custom items, making a meaningful impact across the region. Her small business also serves as a resource for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Mary Nell Batterton (Nellie) is a devoted volunteer and compassionate friend who selflessly supports others through faith, service, and kindness—brightening lives and inspiring all who know her with her warmth and generosity.

Stacy Conforti is a passionate leader whose decades of service have made a lasting impact on youth, conservation, and community in Dubuque County and beyond. Through her role with the Girl Scouts and her leadership in enhancing Camp Little Cloud, Stacy has created meaningful outdoor experiences and helped turn the camp into a multi-use destination for both locals and visitors. Her conservation work spans projects like the Heritage Trail, New Wine Park upgrades, and water trail development, along with her service on the Dubuque County Conservation Board and Trees Forever.
