City of Manchester Presents Several Awards

The City of Manchester presented several awards at their City Council meeting on Monday night.

Manchester Police Officer Nick Hall was honored with an Excellence on Duty Commendation. On March 23rd, Officer Hall was the first to arrive on scene to a medical call where a two-year old was unresponsive and experiencing respiratory distress. Officer Hall not only rendered aid to the child, but was calm, cool and collected with the child’s parents as well. Chief Ben Davis says Officer Hall’s demeanor and professionalism shined as he was able to maintain poise in a traumatic situation for all those involved. His actions resulted in a positive outcome, with the assistance of the Regional Medical Center ambulance team.

The City presented the Heart of the Community Award to Kristy Davis, the manager of Castle Theatre. Davis was nominated by Kathy Rempe for all she does to go above and beyond in keeping the movie theater such a vital part of the community – including soliciting financial support for free movies for the kids, organizing reading certificates for teachers to use to encourage their students to read, opening the theater for special movie events for the schools, hosting a fundraising drive and organizing the schedule of volunteer workers for the nine shows each week.

And Parker Peterson was presented with a $3,000 Iowa Rural Water Charitable Foundation Scholarship.
